Summer time… and the writing is easy. Isn’t that how the song goes? Maybe not, but we hope the writing is going well for all you aspiring authors out there. I know of one enthusiastic writer who has locked herself away from all social media for the weekend and is determined to finish a draft of her next title!Â
The voting is certainly going well for the Top 20 popular book ideas, especially one new book idea whose author will be grateful for its debut in 18th place. Congrats to Wade Fransson (3rd) and Susan Faw (16th) for the positions they hold after hard work at getting votes for their respective book ideas. We still have a tie for 13th place — who will break it?! [No jokes about “luck” here.]Â

Local Author Spotlight on Eric MondscheinÂ
SOOP congratulates Eric Mondschein, author of Life at 12 College Road, for being featured at a “Local Author Spotlight” book signing on July 7th, with two other authors.
This Local Author Spotlight event at Northshire Bookstore was the first of its kind, and they were quite pleased with the turnout. The bookstore bought several copies of Eric’s book, and attendees got to have their purchased books signed by the author. Everyone liked his presentation and how he “left them hanging” and wanting more.   Â
It’s been quite a journey for Eric, so we’re very pleased with the positive reception to his heart-warming, true-life stories of Life at 12 College Road. If you haven’t read it, you’re missing out.Â
SOOP Dollars – Use ’em or Lose ’em!Â
Each month, we award “SOOP Dollars” to the top 5 authors in the Top 20 popular book ideas list. There are several ways the winners can spend their SOOP Dollars, especially in our Services Marketplace, but the SOOP Dollars expire a year from their award date. So, authors, keep track of what you’ve earned and plan to redeem those SOOP Dollars sooner than later.Â
The SOOP Dollars are handed out as follows: $50 for 1st; $40 for 2nd; $30 for 3rd; $20 for 4th; and $10 for 5th.Â
The first SOOP Dollars are due to expire October 2015, a year from when we started awarding them. Stay tuned for more on how to use SOOP Dollars.Â
