#Marketing Mondays: Author Branding

What does it mean when someone says author brand? It means you must build a way for people to see you as an author.

You should present yourself to the public in a way that stands out, something that makes you and your work stick in people’s minds. Of course, creating this takes time and effort, and you have to be consistent with what you are presenting to the public, but building an author brand is one of the most rewarding things an author can do.

By creating a brand, you are telling the public that you want to show them who you are and what you are about. You will need to create a website and a blog and choose one of the social media platforms to help you bring your brand to the public. Your brand is something that is constantly evolving as you do as a writer. Stay consistent with what you present to the public about your work and who you are behind the writing.

When building a brand, you must consider your brand identity and awareness. These two things will help you to create a compelling brand that will help you stand out from the competition.

Brand Identity

You will need a logo, font colors, font type, elements (patterns for your website and blog), a tagline that will stick in readers’ minds, a blog, and a watermark to display yours in a secure work way. Other branding elements are a professional headshot, a website, business cards, book cover images, and a professional email so your audience can see what you look like.

You have a great start to your author brand with these things!

Awareness

You should have thought about your goals and objectives for brand awareness. Ask yourself these questions every time you want to promote your work:

  1. How are you going to promote yourself, and with what platforms? Are you willing to put in all the work it will take to make this brand work for you?
  2. Are you ready to ask for audience input? Asking for your audience’s information will help you to see where you stand with the audience you are trying to target.

Having both the identity and the awareness of your brand, you are well on your way to building a successful brand that will launch your writing career.

If you put in the work to create and maintain your brand, you will most certainly find success. This all depends on you and what you are willing to put into it. A successful author brand doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and a lot of effort to make sure you are successful in the way that you want to be. You are in the driver’s seat to your success, so make sure you stay straight on the road to win, and things should fall into place.

Remember that without your input, you don’t have a brand, so stay true to yourself and your work and put your best foot forward when creating this brand, and your audience will never forget you!
