What does it mean when someone says author brand? It means that you have to build a way for people to see you as an author. You have to present yourself to the public in a way that stands out, something that makes you and your work stick in people’s minds. Creating this takes time and effort on your part. You have to be consistent with what you are presenting to the public. Building an author brand is one of the most rewarding things an author can do. 

By creating a brand, you are saying to the public that you want to show them who you are and what you are about. You will need to create a website, a blog, and choose one of the social media platforms to help you bring your brand to the public. Your brand is something that is always evolving as you do as a writer. It changes with you as long as you stay consistent with what you are presenting to the public about your work and who you are behind the writing.

When building a brand, you have to think about two things, your brand identity, and your brand awareness. These two things will help you to create a compelling brand that will help you stand out from the competition. You will need to choose a logo, font colors, font type, elements (such as patterns for your website and blog), a tagline that will stick in the minds of readers, a blog, a watermark so that your unique work is not stolen, a headshot so that your audience can see what you look like, a website, business cards, book cover images, and a professional email. With these things, you have a great start to your own author brand. 

For brand awareness, you should have thought about what your goals and objectives are. How are you going to promote yourself and with what platforms? Are you willing to put in all the work it will take to make this brand work for you? Are you willing to ask for audience input? Asking for your audience’s input will help you to see where you stand with the audience you are trying to target. Having both the identity and the awareness of your brand you are well on your way to building a successful brand that will launch your writing career.

If you put in the work to create and maintain your brand, you will most certainly find success. This all depends on you and what you are willing to put into it. A successful author brand doesn’t happen overnight. It takes time and a lot of effort to make sure you are successful in the way that you want to be. You are in the driver’s seat to your success, so make sure that you stay straight on the road to success, and things should fall into place. Remember, that without your input you don’t have a brand, so make sure you stay true to yourself and your work and put your best foot forward when creating this brand your audience will always remember you by.
