About the Author

Eileen Maddocks grew up in Maine in the United States, was raised in mainstream Protestantism, and received a bachelor’s degree in history.

One branch of her family embraced Adventism inspired by the nineteenth-century Millerite tradition. This dual world of fundamentalist and mainstream Protestantism fostered a need to seek for spiritual truth in various places until in midlife she discovered and accepted the Bahá’í Faith. She subsequently served at the Bahá’í World Centre in Haifa, Israel, for 16 years in positions that required much research and writing. Upon retirement, she returned to her New England heritage and is now a researcher, editor, and writer living in the bucolic state of Vermont.

Eileen wrote and self-published her first book, 1844: Convergence in Prophecy for Judaism, Christianity, Islam and the Bahá’í Faith, in 2018. This book presents the expectations in the West of the return of Jesus Christ and in the East of the return of the Twelfth Imam, the Promised One. She explores the Judaic, Christian, and Islamic prophecies for the year 1844 and shows how they were fulfilled by the Twin Prophets of the Bahá’í Faith, the Báb and Bahá’u’lláh.

Eileen’s passion has been her trilogy, The Coming of the Glory: How the Hebrew Scriptures Reveal the Plan of God, which volume III now completes. It presents a Bahá’í perspective of the Hebrew Bible––its prophecies, allegories, and symbolism. Focusing on the Hebrew prophets, she presents their missions in a chronological, systematic manner within the context of Israelite history. Each of the canonical Hebrew prophets, over a span of about three hundred and fifty years–– from Amos to Malachi––foretold the coming of the twin prophets of the Bahá’í Faith. In retrospect, it is apparent that their messages and warnings were not only given for the people of their time but also, possibly witheven more importance, for us today.

Some people ask, why go far back in time to the Hebrew Bible since the Gospels and the Qurán, and then the Bahá’í scriptures, have superseded it? Because the divine truths found in the Hebrew Bible largely laid the foundation for the divine revelations that were yet to come. And how can anyone know the future? Because there are no beginnings or endings in the worlds or mind of God, and because our sense of time is irrelevant to divine time.

This trilogy is an excellent history of, and introduction to, the Hebrew Bible for those individuals who are unfamiliar with it. The themes of Israelite history during the eight hundred years from Moses to Malachi are presented in sequential order, thus giving the reader an excellent overview of early biblical times. For those readers who are well versed in the Hebrew Bible, this trilogy is an opportunity to explore these scriptures’ symbology and dimensions on deeper levels.
