Contest Fee Option for the Annual Short Story Contest

Many authors who submit stories to our contest struggle to obtain the 50 votes needed to qualify their submission for review by our Curators— that is why we’ve introduced a Contest Fee Option in lieu of votes to qualify your stories for the contest.

Whether you have zero votes or are missing only a few votes, you must either obtain the remaining votes by the qualification deadline or pay the optional fee. Otherwise:

1. YOUR STORY WILL NOT BE QUALIFIED
2. YOUR STORY WILL NOT BE REVIEWED
3. YOUR STORY CANNOT BE AWARDED ANY PRIZES.

How does it work?

Regardless of the number of votes you received, your story will have an equal chance of being evaluated on its merit and creativity.

1. If you have 0-19 votes, you can pay the optional fee of $25 in lieu of remaining votes.
2. If you have 20-39 votes, you can pay the optional fee of $15 in lieu of remaining votes
3. If you have 40-49 votes, you can pay the optional fee of $5 in lieu of remaining votes.
4. If you have multiple stories, you can pay the optional fee of $49 in lieu of votes.

How to select the Contest Fee option?

1. Please click on “Add to Cart” and then click on “Proceed to checkout”. 
2. Fill out the necessary information on the billing details and INCLUDE THE TITLE(S) OF YOUR SUBMISSION on Additional Information > Order notes and proceed with the payment process.
3. Once your payment is confirmed, our team will reach out to ensure the name of your story to qualify it for review and award eligibility officially.
