‘The Twelfth of Never’ By Romy Barnett

Maggie’s life is in a controlled tailspin. She’s got a cheating husband and a somewhat stalled academic career that she doesn’t even want. As the new academic year is starting, she meets a fellow doctoral student who at first repulses her but as they spend time together, she finds herself increasingly attracted to.

This short story isn’t necessarily about a romance or a failed marriage but a consideration of what ultimately attracts us to others.
