‘Mail Order at Silver Dollar Crossing’ By George Frost

Two brothers are waiting for the arrival of a train at Silver Dollar Cross in Nevada Territory after the Civil War. They are both veterans in The Army of the Potomac where Hamilton Jessup has lost and eye and the right side of his face is horribly disfigured while his brother Isaiah are mining for silver. As they wait, their lives are retold from a small farm in Vermont where they hail from to the battlefield of Petersburg, Virginia in the final months of the war when Hamilton is shot by a sniper. With his face disfigured, he has come to the west to begin life anew with his brother.
