Adolphina, is 21 and a renowned Cellist. Her parents died some years ago and she is looked after financially by two uncles: one is wealthy, the other lives a more humble life in the land of the conquistadors. her wealthy uncle owns a large silver and tin mine in Potosi, yet he is a private man and has always been guarded about the actual purpose of his trade with the USA and Europe. However, it is thanks to his generosity that she found herself living in a small rooftop apartment in the Latin quarter of war-torn Paris. On the night of an important concert she senses something is not quite right.
