‘A Key in the Lock’ By K. E. Hirsch

Vivian lives alone with her cat and isn’t expecting company until this afternoon. She’s predictably surprised, then, when she hears a key turning in the lock of her front door. But when she goes to see who has arrived, no one is there, and the door is still locked. Tension begins to build as Vivian realizes she may not be alone in the apartment.
