After suffering a head injury which leads to chronic amnesia Allen undergoes a procedure that is supposed to augment his memory and allow him return to a normal life. After the procedure he develops synesthesia (the commingling of senses) which allows him to see electrical fields leading him on haphazard adventure through Silicon Valley to figure out how who’s stealing money from him and thousands of other people who are already nearly broke.
