‘Paper Knight’ By Monica Brendel

In a post-war world, all printed materials have been banned. The government said that this was to save the deteriorating environment, though that is not the true motive. A young woman goes to visit her grandmother in the city before taking a job across the country. It is this final visit that she learns that her grandmother has been keeping a terrible secret, she has been running an illicit library from the basement of her historic home. The young women is further caught off guard when her grandmother asks her to take over the endeavor that was started more than 50 years ago by her family, to become the bookkeeper.
