A J, a retired attorney, and his Irish childhood friend, the owner of an Irish Pub, reminisce about the disappearance and probable death of an undercover F.B.I. agent, the client of A.J, For years the friends have avoided discussing the possible rape of A J’s wife by the agent and whether A J’s son was the product of the rape. Knowing that the candle that controlled his physical and mental life had little or no wick, and his dreams of the night in question may never reveal the truth, he confronts his friend.
