‘Wallowing’ By MK Calero

The summer that Lydia got her first kiss was also same summer her mother tried to drown herself. As summer extends to that moment, Lydia slowly realizes that her alcoholic mother’s deliberate self-destruction is no one else’s but her own. Despite Lydia’s previous efforts to get her mother to quit drinking, she is ultimately faced with the personal decision of jumping in to save her mother or leave her to her fate.
