‘The Herb Keeper’ By L.S. Young

A woman in a post-apocalyptic society lives in an isolated garden where she tends sacred herbs for healing, well-being, and poison. The poisonous herbs are reserved only for relieving suffering or ridding the world of terrible evil.

One day she’s visited by two outsiders from a distant city. She gives them food and shelter but when she realizes they ascribe to the beliefs of an old, evil faction that doomed past societies, and plan to spread their ideas locally, she must decide between letting them go and doing her duty.

When one of them proves to have poor personal boundaries and they get drunk on her wine, she overcomes her reservations and poisons them. The next day she scavenges the motorcycle they arrived on and buries their clothes.
