‘Returner’ By Colin Munch

In the aftermath of a horrific foreign war, a cybernetically augmented soldier attempts to return to civilian life in his home city.

While riding the bus, he is struck by how strongly his mere presence affects the people around him. While many are grateful for the sacrifice he made, the war was unpopular and he is seen as an unfortunate by-product of a barbaric time.

As the bus travels through the city, he experiences the fear, pity, suspicion, and hatred of those who are unwilling to understand him.
