‘Off of the Hook’ By Sonya McKinzie

Let me tell you my story, I want to talk about the affects of domestic violence, and how it affected me as a child. Let me, tell you how it affects me now, as a woman. Have you ever seen a piece of broken China, it might be cracked, but it still has beauty. I am a piece of China, I might appear to be intact, but indeed, I am cracked, chipped, but I refuse to be defined by my flaws.

I want to share my secrets, coping mechanisms, mental machinery that I have used to help heal  me. Let me empower you, through my testimony. Can I empower you, and let you know that you can break free from that situation. Sure you can leave, let me tell you how. Break away from those prison walls, be released from confinement and abuse. Let me share my story of how I began to Thrive, help you get “Off of the Hook” better known as abuse. – Sonya McKinzie
