The story talks about the story of a girl who develops a crush on their female and male best friend. She dates the male best friend and has to learn to cope and decide what actions to take when she is sexually assaulted by and betrayed by that male friend. After they break up, the female friend starts dating him and she has to decide if she wants to tell the female friend what happened to her as the fear of losing both of them threatens to swallow her whole. The name of the story comes from a gift that the male friend gave her towards the beginning of the relationship, pearl earrings.
