‘Always’ By Lilia Antolov

(Part of a longer manuscript of the same name) Near the end of the Cold War, US Marine Corporal Joseph (Joe) Fox, newly assigned to a Force Recon unit, must get a young Russian woman, Oksana Gapchenko, who is part of a defecting family, from Kiev to Odessa Ukraine to escape the Soviet Union. Unknown to the men on the mission, they have been betrayed, and after the rest of the girl’s family, and the Corporal’s unit, are killed escaping Kiev, Joe and Oksana must race against time to get to Odessa and their chance to escape the Soviet Union . Along the way they must fight Soviet soldiers, the elements, and uncertainty to get to their destination in time to meet a boat sent to get them to safety. Along the way they fall in love, and the young Marine must somehow found a way to balance his duty with the demands of his heart, to get the woman he loves with to the safety of America.
