‘A Year in Shorts’ by Mr. E.

As a survivor of abuse, I had spent way too many years making some particularly terrible life choices. In 2010 I moved from London to Bangkok in order to make some fundamental changes. Each month, for the whole year, I wrote a literary short story inspired by my journey and I posted it to a blog so my friends could critique my prose. I found myself immersed in the company of plethora of eccentric, functioning alcoholics and dirty old queens. What has materialized is an intimate and amusing voyage of personal growth, set against the backdrop of the increasing social and political tensions of the emerging red shirt revolution, and subsequent military coup. The book was to be published in South East Asia; however, it was banned by the Thai authorities and has existed in limbo ever since.
