‘Then there was you’ by Sarah Tomlinson

In a sleepy town in north west England, Laura is a 40 year old woman whose life thus far has been underwhelming and fraught with failed relationships. Recently recovered from an episode of depression, and focused on enjoying her single existence, her world is turned upside down when she meets Rob, a divorced musician with a lust for life and a charm that captivates her and finally convinces her she has found her soulmate . In the prime of their ensuing relationship, in love and in the midst of IVF, tragedy unfolds, and Rob is suddenly killed in a motorbike accident. Laura’s world crumbles apart, but before long she begins to be revisited by her beloved, hearing and seeing him with increasing frequency. Or does she?……. This book is is a tale of love and tragedy, mental illness versus the supernatural (are her experiences real or a product of her mind?), leading the reader to finally discover which of these is true. The book is influenced by my job as a clinical psychologist, but also my experience of two friends suddenly dying in recent years.
