‘The Machine’ By J.J. Woolcock

in 1940 Ohio, in a small town lives a young boy, Mickey Robins. An ordinary kid, he does what every son of a farmer does. He goes to school, helps around the farm and explorers. He also has an unusual hobby, he collects boxes. He has boxes that he has collected from all over the county and all over the country.
One day Mickey and his friends discover that the carnival is coming to town. They go and see it. They enjoy it. They return to the site of the carnival weeks after it has left. They discover many discarded items, including a mysterious box left behind by the carnival’s magician. A box used to cure the ill and disabled. A box that could bring about wonderful things. A box with a terrible secret.
