‘THE DAWN OF THUNDER (pitmad request)’ By OMOBOLAJI OLOFINNIKA

“A king must fight to save his kingdom, a father his family, and a son his sanity, as enemies abound at all sides, putting in motion the turn of events that gave birth to the African god of thunder, Sango!”

The fledgling kingdom of OYO is under threat of extinction from its neighbors, as the BARIBAS of the BOURGU to their west and the FULANI/BORORO to their north prepares a joint attack, mobilizing a combined army five times their total military force against them.

ORANYAN, the King of Oyo’s fear is compounded as TAROSI, his heavily pregnant wife and princess of the NUPE kingdom to their east, gets missing after a botched assassination attack by the Bororos, and the Nupe kingdom would readily turn from ally to enemy if news of this gets to them. His last hope is in the messengers he has sent to his father’s kingdom, ILE-IFE, knowing full well his message had little or no chances of reaching them due to his nephew OLOWU and his warriors blocking the path to Ile-Ife. As the war looms, Oranyan must make strong choices, compromising his most basic beliefs to save his kingdom and his family.
