‘My Ghost Notes’ by Cheyenne West

John’s a college student who falls for a single mom in another town. He seeks a voice to express his love for her and her daughter. He spends his days working in the library, studying poetry. He woos his new love with letters as they correspond for two years. John realizes the extent of his love, however, his growing insecurity of being able to provide for his family becomes overwhelming. He decides to go to law school. The lovers, again, are separated by distance- this time the strain is too much. As Chey prepares for their wedding, John begins an affair. Broken-hearted, afraid of losing him, she goes through with the nuptials. Two years into the marriage, he has another affair, this time, the betrayal is too much. After the divorce, John sends another letter, an apology. Before she has an opportunity to respond, he dies in an accident. To heal, she writes letters to him. After months of one way correspondence, he writes back. The final Ghostnotes are written from the afterlife, proving that love is eternal.
