‘The Badlands’ by K.B. Tucker

Two thirteen-year-old boys face the greatest challenges of their young lives…surviving on the grasslands of the Montana Badlands. A strange connection binds them over 100 years apart. For young Tobias (Toby), this was supposed to be an adventure in the West. His father, Micheal Mocking Beaver, a local leader of Wolf Point tribe, fought off a group of angry tribesmen just a few days ago and has not returned from his latest trapping trip. Was this an accident or have the angry locals decided to make his father disappear for good? Now, Tobias is alone with crops to bring in, cattle to care for and the homestead to keep up. Not only is it a question of Tobias being able to do it all by himself, but which might kill him first, nature or man? Thirteen-year-old Moose is visiting his father for the first time in over a year. The visit is not going well. His father has taken Moose on an unexpected camping trip to the Badlands of Montana. Suddenly, the car goes off the road. When Moose wakes up, his father is no where to be seen. But, there is no time for panic or even anger, Moose has to figure out how to survive in the wilderness it will take more courage and determination than he ever knew he had to make it back home, but wait, is he really alone? Who is that boy?
