Something Or Other Publishing is proud to present the finalists and the category winners of the 2nd Annual Short Story Contest, our flagship program to provide emerging authors with a unique opportunity to get started in the publishing industry.
SOOP’s Author-Driven Publishing Model combines the best elements of both traditional and self-publishing while taking advantage of social media and crowdsourcing to educate and empower authors to master the “3 P’s” of publishing: Product, Platform, and Promotion.Â
Every year, our company honors excellence in writing short stories and flash fiction, where winners get numerous guaranteed cash awards (totaling over $5,000 this year) and a publishing contract to get their stories out to the world. As a result, authors understand the process of landing a publishing contract and the chances of earning much higher royalties than traditional publishing.
We were pleased with the quality of the submissions this year, resulting in several difficult tie-breakers. Congratulations to everyone who won a prize; your time to cherish and celebrate your work has finally arrived! At the same time, some categories needed more representation, requiring consolidation in multi-genre categories to make the prizes meaningful to our competitors. We invite everyone who performed well and did not make the cut to keep their heads up and don’t give up! You still have a chance to become a published author by submitting various entries for next year’s competition, now with new categories!
Wade Fransson, Founder of Something Or Other Publishing, LLC.Â
Our independent panel of judges has awarded the category prizes to the finalists in the list below, and please stay tuned for the Grand Prize Winners next week!Â
