2020 NIP Bookcamp &Writing Retreat Near Capacity

The 2020 residential NIP Bookcamp workshop and Writing Retreat programs are rapidly approaching. Scheduled for Sunday, August 2, through Friday, August 7. Both programs are for writers working on book-length projects.

There is still time to enroll in either of these small group sessions, which are held in southeast Wisconsin about 35 minutes northwest of Milwaukee. Space, however, is limited, and registration closes in April.

The NIP offers two concurrent, six-day programs: a workshop for writers with a book-length WIP, and a writing retreat with options to socialize with writers, editors, and literary agents. The Bookcamp provides advice specific to your WIP, hands-on instruction, writing clinic, and information on today’s changing publishing industry by published novelists, agents, and editors. The Writing Retreat offers six days of personal writing time with opportunities to discuss writing issues with the Retreat Mentor (an award-winning novelist and editor), opportunities to attend presentations, all social activities, and chat with fellow writers and publishing professionals in a relaxed environment.

With 15 writers currently accepted into the Bookcamp and another nine enrolled in the Writing Retreat, three single rooms remain available. One slot is open for the Bookcamp workshop. Two single room remains for the six-day Writing Retreat. Arrangements can be made to accommodate double-occupancy rooms.
For more information contact NIP Director Dave Rank at [email protected], or go to the NIP website, http://www.novelbookcamp.org. Mention you heard of the NIP in the SOOP Newsletter and receive a $75 discount on your registration.

A note from NIP Director Dave Rank: “We are closely monitoring the situation with the current outbreak of COVID-19. While the NIP is scheduled to begin months from now, if health concerns continue it is conceivable the 2020 NIP could be canceled. Such a decision could be made in late April. If that occurs, full refunds can be provided or registration fees can be applied to the 2021 NIP.”

  1. A writing retreat is a great way to give some time and space for the creative aspect of your personality to reveal itself. It is not just a treat for writers but also an opportunity for anyone who wants to develop an interest in writing or learn something useful from the writing program which is offered in such retreats.
