#Marketing Mondays: Is Building an Author Website a Necessity?

The answer is yes because if you don’t build a site for yourself, you won’t have anything to share with your readers. Fans want to be able to connect with you. So, to do that you need to build a site that will give your readers the information that they need. Building a website falls in line with promoting your brand. There are a lot of tools on the internet that can help you succeed in creating a website.

WordPress is a great website for helping you start a blog and get yourself out there with your readers. Wix is another website that will help you create a website for connecting with fans. Each of them is free. If you want the premium content, you must pay for them with an annual fee. To get started with your own website free isn’t bad. Creating your own website will get you started on your journey as an author with a brand that will help you connect with your readers.

Building this website will not only connect you with your readers, but it will also keep you writing. Writing all the time is an important part of being a writer. As an author you want to write all the time and building a website will do just that. Building a website helps you create something that will make your readers want to come back for more of what you initially gave them. You need to stand out in their minds because they will remember something unique.

The first thing you need to do is choose what website you want to use to create your website. Once you choose the website to help you build, you want to choose a name for the website that will stick in your reader’s minds. Make sure to pick something unique to you and your work. Next, the website should offer you some themes to help you create the website. Once you have chosen a theme, it will populate the website for you. You will have to put your own content into the customization part of the website.

Once that is completed you can publish the website and view what it will look like to your readers. Make sure that you tell your fans about your new website through social media that way you will bring in more traffic for yourself. You can start a newsletter that you send out every so often to let your readers know about your upcoming writing and what you are doing in the future. Creating an author website takes time and effort, but will be well worth it in the end when taking this time will help you to succeed.
