Did you know that SOOP hosts a forum where you can go and discuss the author experience with other writers and authors just like you? Make sure you do, because last week I posted the first of a bimonthly new topic initiative and I really want everyone involved. Last week’s new topic was “Writer Moments.” I want to hear your stories, so please feel free to share. What was the last thing you Google’d that would be strange if it weren’t for the fact that it was necessary for your story? Mine would be how to make your own smelling salts and what time of day is normal for a funeral. Take a moment and share today. When did you last look at a situation and think, “That’s so going in my next book.” Or when did you last meet a person who immediately inspired a character.
So here we have it! It’s the debut Top 40 list. As promised, I have some Shout Outs. I don’t however, have, any prizes as those are still being determined. But stay tuned for next month!
Now that we’ve established our look ahead, the Top 40 for September 2016 are…
Shout Outs!
The New King: The Lottery Curse by Carey Azzara has wrested the #1 Spot from The Rod of Iron by Wade Fransson. Will he be able to hold this position? I can’t wait to find out.
The Rocket Continues to Rise: Beyond Terror by Anne Marie Waters continues to rise through the ranks and gain votes in droves. Maybe she’ll be in the #1 spot.
The Newbies: Pharmakembru: The Face by Monos D.O.A, Repeat With Me: I AM (Inspiring, Aspiring & Motivating) Success Every Moment – In The Spring! by Edward Charfauros, Avoiding Superman by Gregory Copeland, Welcome to Earth by Michael Thompson, The Meek by Jedah Mayberry, and Arlena: Void Of My Own by Petra Pedro Perry all have less than 5 votes. They’re new to the list, but they’re our next rising stars.
How do I get onto Top 40?
As stated previously, the Top 40 is the monthly culmination of our Hot 20 lists. Book Idea placement is determined by a formula that takes into account how many votes a Book Idea has gotten in the last month, how quickly they got those votes, and a few other things. We have a few ways to help you make it onto these lists.
For all you DIY authors, SOOP hosts a series of Marketing Monday posts chock full of tips and tricks to getting your audience off the ground. For those of you looking for more active help, SOOP has several packages to help you with your Marketing Plan. Make sure to take a minute and check those out. Plus, the Service Marketplace offers a way for you authors to get in contact with people who can help you with your Product, Platform, and Promotion.
We Want to Work With You
Here at SOOP, we want to help you succeed. Once you have submitted your Book Idea, there are two levels of participation to get you to the end goal of publication: Free and Premium. The Free Level offers many of the same helpful services, including homework at each stage of the voting process that helps you, the author, create substantial marketing progress and develop the best book possible. These homework assignments are managed in phases, and returned on a pass/fail basis.
The Premium Level, offers the unique benefits of personalized feedback from our panel of experts. This gives the author a more complete idea of their direction. They 85% required passing grades on the homework makes sure that the author gets a more complete picture of their progress. When armed with more information, the author can then readjust and with more precision.
So which Level makes the most sense for you. Read the FAQ about costs for more information and contact us if you have questions.
FAQ of the day: Can you help me publish my raw manuscript?
We sure can! If you need help getting your manuscripts proofread, edited, reviewed and published, we can offer those services for hire through our Services Marketplace. Or, you can earn them for free by reaching 2,000 valid votes through our author-driven model. Regardless of which route you choose, submit your book idea here, build an audience and anticipate orders from those who vote for your Book Idea(s).
As always, explore our site to learn about our publishing model, our other FAQ answers, or submit a book idea.
