The Easiest Way to Get Votes: Part Eleven

MM

Well, if you guys have read through this series, you all definitely know how to bring in votes via Twitter. We’ve covered a ton in this series, and it’s time to wrap it up. Tweets are 140 characters after all, so keeping a blog series about Twitter somewhat concise is appropriate, right? To wrap up our series, I’d like to give ten key things that you need to do in order to be success on Twitter at getting votes. These points are covered in other blog posts in this series, so I won’t go into detail, but if you get anything from this series, please understand that you need to do these ten things to be successful on Twitter.

  1. Have a completely filled out profile! You need a bio, a header, an avatar, and a website link! You must have all four! Your bio needs to be interesting and not just a string of boring words that could describe three million different people.
  2. Don’t post things, if you’re representing yourself professionally, that’s divisive. I’ll be honest with you, I like politics, and I like sharing my unpopular opinions, but I’ve stopped now because it’s not worth it. Spouting off what ever you feel like saying can damage your brand, whether its your personal brand or your business’ brand, in my case, big league. Keep your opinions to yourself if they’re going to cause trouble.
  3. Tweet often. People are following you because they’re interested in what you have to say. TWEET!!! Seriously, tweet several times a day, preferably more than four times a day.
  4. Retweet even more. People love people that give back. Why do you think people like Bill Gates? Sure, he founded a great company, but I’d argue that many people like and respect him for all of the giving back that he’s done even more than they like and respect him for Microsoft. Retweet as much as you can, but remember to only retweet things that are going to be constructive.
  5. Follow people who are likely to follow back. Use Tweepi and follow people that tweet often and have filled out profiles. If they don’t follow back, unfollow them. It’s okay, I promise.
  6. Use automatic mentions or DMs to ask for votes. If you bring in hundreds of followers each week, you most likely won’t have time to ask each one for a vote personally. If you do, that’s great, but whatever you do, don’t waste your followers by not asking for a vote.
  7. Tweet pictures and videos as much as possible. They’re very popular. Believe me, you’ll get a lot more interaction if you tweet really engaging pictures and videos.
  8. Let your hair down a bit. I represent my business via my Twitter account, but that doesn’t keep me from making jokes at my own expense, for instance. People like real people. Politicians and people on TV quickly disappear from the spotlight if they’re fake or too prim and proper. Be real, and have fun.
  9. Use hashtags. They’re so easy to include, and they boost you’re reach considerably.
  10. Follow me on Twitter! Haha! You don’t have to, but my account is probably more appealing now that you can’t find any of my wonderful political opinions! 😉

I hope this series has been a big help to you all, and I would love to hear from you guys in the comments below if you have any thoughts on the series of any suggestions for your fellow Book Idea writers! Also, continue to check back for #MarketingMonday blog posts and emails! Cheers, all, and happy tweeting! Bring in those votes!
