‘Three Cheers for Chips’ by David Hardie

Chips the Otter is delighted when Tobias Toad asks him to build a bridge across the river at Treesville. Gathering his tools, he rushes to start work and soon makes friends with the animals who live in the village. But things are not as they seem. In the middle of the night, while the villagers are fast asleep, a mysterious figure creeps through the darkness towards the river. Is someone trying to destroy the bridge? Does Tobias Toad have a dark secret? And can Chips help the villagers to save the day?
