‘Teach Your Kids to be Super–a Character Ed Curriculum’ by Paul Cicchini

Teachers and Guidance Counselors now know that they must address character issues in order to have effective classrooms and schools but often, they do not know where to start. They either do not have the time or resources to develop their own curriculum or they (or their school district) do not have the money to buy an expensive pre-packaged system. Furthermore, teachers want Character Ed lessons that aren’t dated, immature, sickening-sweet, or boring. They want lessons that will hold the interest of their students.
Students from Grades 2 through 8 are huge comic book fans and one of the biggest demographics of audiences of Superhero blockbuster movies. What better way to hold their interest than with lessons that revolve around comic book heroes? With the proposed book, “Teach Your Kids to be Super?—a Character Ed Curriculum,” teachers will have at their disposal an entire school years’ worth of Character Ed lessons that focus on a different one of their students’ favorite superheroes each month. The book is based on my proven, successful counseling presentation curriculum. Comic images are either uncopyrighted fan art or “free to use” web images. The book includes interviews with comic editors such as Tom Breevort of Marvel.
