While en route to the mid-July launch for Life at 12 College Road, SOOP Founder Wade Fransson crossed paths with Andrew Johnson, the famous “Book Man” of Queensbridge. “Book Man”—who has a political science degree and a long history in the book business—has been selling books on the same street corner in this rough-and-tumble neighborhood for more than four years. In a recent feature, the New York Times dubbed him Queensbridge’s “unofficial mayor.”
